Shang Shung Institute Merigar
The Shang Shung Institute for Tibetan Studies is managing different projects that are a helpful support for everyone in the worldwide Dzogchen Community:
• Webcast of retreats, conferences, congresses or public talks.
• Digital Archive for the preservation of all teachings and events regarding the Master and the Dzogchen Community in audio and video formats.
• The Projects Complete Works of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and the Ka-Ter for making available precise and correct translations of the teachings of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and of the original Dzogchen tantras for the Dzogchen Community and future generations.
• The Tibetan language project for studying Tibetan and for the correct pronunciation of texts used within the Dzogchen Community.• Publication of books and texts through Shang Shung Publications mainly for the worldwide Dzogchen Community.
• The Tibetan Medicine Project of the Tibetan Medicine School in order to become a qualified doctor of Tibetan Medicine and Astrology.
• The organization of various Tibetan cultural events including exhibitions and conferences.
• The coordination of the courses of Yantra Yoga, Vajra Dance and Santi Maha Sangha.
Recently it was clarified that in order to keep the status of a nonprofit association, which is crucial for its survival, the Shang Shung Institute is highly benefitted by selling its products to SSI members. Therefore we are asking every Dzogchen Community member to become a member of SSI too. To ease this goal the 2012 membership of Merigar West is offered as a joint membership for the same fees of the Merigar West membership. For each practitioner that voluntarily agrees with the unified membership 5 Euro will be paid to SSI as a share of this joint membership fee.
In this way, when buying the SSI products in our centers or webshops, you will contribute also to preserve the nonprofit status of SSI and to support its services for the Dzogchen Community.
This kind of basic membership lasts from January 1st until December 31st and should be renewed every year. The DC-SSI Unified Membership is subscribed only through the Merigar West Membership form.
Besides this very basic unified membership you can also become a supporting member of the Shang Shung Institute.
The fee of the Sustaining Membership is 50 Euro or 70 US Dollar for one year. SSI Sustaining Members, besides having free access to our webshops, also gets the Merigar Calendar as a free gift, either in paper form or as a free download (the latter option is not guaranteed for this year). Your membership fee will be used as a general support of the activities of the Institute.
